“A deep, dark, brooding example of merlot that will have its fans and, due to a high degree of alcohol, no doubt its detractors, too. It speaks of the region and a richer style that many appreciate. Fully expressive with black fruits, fruit cake spice, violets and savoury aromas. This is not one of those pretty merlots but rather a thumping, shiraz-like interpretation. However the finish, with edgy garrique herbals, is a reminder of some of the grape’s celebrated elegance.” – James Halliday
